Wallow Fire Ravages Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest

Wallow Fire Ravages Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest

The Wallow Fire which started in the Bear Wallow Wilderness area has moved through Hannagan Meadows Lodge, Sprucedale, Beaver Creek Ranch, and threatens Alpine and Nutrioso. Both Alpine and the Nutrioso area residents have been forced to evacuate. At this time, no structures have been lost except for a few cabins at Beaver Creek Ranch. You can get more info on tracking the fire by clicking on the link below or visit inciweb.org or azcentral.com. At this time, over 106,000 acres have been involved in the fire.

Hank and I have been in Utah for the past week and after receiving the news that Nutrioso had also been evacuated, we left Salt Lake City last night around 9:30 pm and drove all night to get home and see what we could do to help. Hank is now at the forest supervisor’s office offering any help that the Apache County ATV Roughrider’s Club can offer. As of noon today, the entire Apache forest portion of the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest – Clifton to Showlow – will be completely shut down. We will keep you posted on any further developments.

Please remember our area in your prayers. We need the winds to die down immediately so that firefighters can have a chance at some kind of containment. At this time, the fire is 0% contained.

    Dear Hank and Debbie:

Each time I’ve seen the news reports of this terrible fire, my heart just aches for all the residents, ranchers and recreationists in the area and the loss of our beautiful forests. Our hearts and prayers are with you.

      Lee & Pat,
Thanks for your thoughts and prayers! We have been told repeatedly that this fire will not be put out until the summer monsoon rains come, so please pray for rain!
We hope to see you guys at the jamboree this year! We might be playing at night and having our regular great times in the evenings and then planting trees on the trails during the day – but the JAMBOREE WILL GO ON! So spread the word! We need everyone’s support now more than ever.
      Thanks!
      Debbie

  4. Hank, Debbie, all of the wonderful people I have met through the Apache County Roughriders and ATV Outlaw Jamboree,

First and foremost, I want you all to know that you are in our thoughts and prayers each and every day. Together we will get through this terribly unfortunate devastation.

With that being said, I want to assure you that Discount Tire Co. will be with you every step of the way to make sure that the 2011 Jamboree is bigger and better than ever before. We will help to bring the beauty back to the White Mountains! Together we can make a difference!!

In the meantime, please let us know if there is anything we can do to help or assist in any way. We are here for you.

    Chad,

I went to the Jamboree last year and had a blast! I’ve seen some pictures of the fire and cannot believe it. I hope everything and everyone will find light through the dark times. I am glad to hear that the fire will not stop the 2011 Jamboree!! I know I will try my hardest to come again!! Last year was amazing and this year will be even better!
